Dwyane Wade might be leaving the Miami Heat this summer, and there are two destinations where he might wind up.

The Miami Heat failed to make the postseason this year, and that’s something that is weighing heavy on the mind of guard Dwyane Wade. No player has invested as much into his team as Wade has to the Heat, as he’s taken less money time and time again to allow for stars like Chris Bosh and LeBron James to come to South Beach and win titles.

Wade gave up the best years of his career when it came to years he could earn top dollar — and now he wants that money in full. Wade has a player option for just over $16 million in 2015 and he’ll become a free agent in 2016 regardless of what happens with his option this summer.

One of his options is to leave Miami and play elsewhere — something that is insane to fathom since he controls whether or not he gets $16 million or not.

According to Frank Isola, the Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks are two landing spots for Dwyane Wade this offseason.

"If Dwyane Wade does the unexpected and leaves Miami he could end up in one of two places; Los Angeles (Clippers) or New York."

It wold be wildly unexpected if Wade leaves the Heat this summer, but he could seek out a deal elsewhere that pays him more. He’s not a young man anymore, and asking for a salary over the course of one or more years that pays him more than $16 million per season is hasty at best.

Kobe Bryant only got $20 million a year because Jim Buss is has burped up all over the Lakers franchise and refuses to clean it up.

Wade could go to Cleveland and reunite with LeBron James, but the Cavaliers have to pay LeBron, Kevin Love, J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert and figure out how to add more pieces to continue being dominant. Wade fits in theory but not on paper.

New York is a mess and Wade would do little more than collect a check there, but he could very well be lured by Los Angeles. He may want to be a Heat lifer, but Michael Jordan and Patrick Ewing both ended their careers in places other than Chicago and New York — so anything is possible.
