Steve Francis is not nearly as good at first pitches as he was when he was on the basketball court

Steve Francis is one of the more well-known NBA players from this generation and was one of the more efficient ball handlers that you have ever seen. However, just because his athletic skills on the basketball court were superior at times doesn’t mean he’s good at everything sport.

This most certainly includes throwing out a first pitch, as we found out on Tuesday.

Francis was in Baltimore for the Orioles taking on the Houston Astros Tuesday night, and with his connection to the areas that both teams are from, it made sense to throw him out there for the ceremonial first pitch. As we all know when it comes to first pitches, you only get one chance, and Francis did not capitalize on his opportunity at all.

Again, you only get one shot with these opportunities and Francis has certainly had better athletic performances in his life.

Francis was a star for the Maryland Terrapins in his collegiate days and he spent a good amount of time as the face of the Houston Rockets franchise, so his connection here on Tuesday night was pretty obvious. Not to mention, his hometown is in Maryland as well.

So, maybe he’ll get another chance to right this wrong some day when these two teams meet.
