Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr received lots of congratulatory texts after winning the NBA Finals. One of those texts came from his former San Antonio Spurs teammate Tim Duncan.

Tim Duncan and Steve Kerr are both on a very short list when it comes to having at least five NBA Championships. Both have won five, and Kerr now has a sixth by winning as the Warriors head coach.

With such a huge accomplishment, everyone was texting Steve Kerr to congratulate him on his success. So naturally, Tim Duncan texted his former teammate Kerr after his new championship.

Duncan’s text to Kerr was gold too.

For the regular season, the first three rounds of the playoffs and the last three games of the Finals, the Warriors made it look easy, while Duncan and the Spurs battled hard and fell in Game 7 of the first round of the playoffs.

It’s also a great text that shows the humor behind the usually reserve Duncan. He knows the greatness of what Kerr and the Warriors accomplished, as he has been there several times himself.

Many NBA fans would like to have seen a series between the Warriors and the Spurs, but it didn’t happen. There’s a good chance it could next year if Duncan returns to the Spurs. Duncan may not have gotten to take on his former teammate’s team in the playoffs, but he got to put his own spin on a congratulatory text.

The big fundamental follows the fundamentals of text messaging.
