The Toronto Raptors are getting in on the free agency frenzy and have agreed to sign DeMarre Carroll.

It was another so-so season for the Toronto Raptors, who made it back to the postseason but had an even more brief stay then they had a year ago. It’s encouraging that a so-so season for the Raptors means making it to the playoffs isn’t a big deal, but the well has run dry on that being something them to stand on.

The time is now for the Raptors to actually start producing or exit stage left and allow for someone else to make a run. It has long been said though that free gents don’t want to come up north to Toronto and play for the Raptors — something that DeMarre Carroll has changed.

The now ex-Haws forward went ahead and scooped Adrian Wojnarowski and announced he was heading north on his Instagram account on Wednesday.

This is more than just a free agent coming to Toronto — it’s a free agent coming to Toronto.

Free agents just don’t decide to go to Toronto, that’s long been the case and didn’t seem like it was going to change. Carroll has gone against the grain and signed with the Raptors and it might be something that sets the trend and opens to door for more free agents to come to town.

That’s not a guarantee, but it’s something that the Raptors can now try and lean on now that Carroll has agreed to come North.
