Thursday was a pretty big day for the Miami Marlins as they take on the San Francisco Giants. After a long, strenuous recovery from Tommy John Surgery, starting pitcher Jose Fernandez made his return to the team and he did so in pretty dramatic fashion.

Now when you hear something like that, you might think that he was bringing the good stuff on the mound. Well, that’s not exactly the case. While he’s not pitching poorly by any means, he found a different way to make sure he announced his return — with the use of the bat.

Yes, people may have forgotten that while he’s a pitcher, he’s not too bad with that piece of wood in his hands. In the bottom of the fifth inning with the Marlins down 3-1, Fernandez launched this bomb over the center field wall.

Now that’s how you let the Major League Baseball world know that not only are you healthy, but you’re ready to continue making your mark on the baseball world.

The Marlins might not make a run at the World Series this season, but seeing Fernandez out there pulling this off is a pretty good sign for the future.
