Floyd Mayweather’s September fight this year could be seen by a whole lot of folks, because apparently it’s running on network television

By now we all know that Floyd Mayweather plans on fighting in September, as he does every year. After his win over Manny Pacquiao in May, some thought he might hang it up after going 48-0, but that’s not the case. Mayweather will be in the ring this September on schedule, and it might be the biggest event that he’s ever been a part of, in a sense.

While we’re used to Mayweather being the king of pay-per-view when it comes to the sport of boxing, apparently he’s going to be part of a new trend. According to a report from RING contributor Michael Woods, Mayweather will take on Andre Berto on September 12 — and the bout will be broadcast on CBS.

Wow, that’s certainly something that we never thought that we would see, but apparently it’s going to happen. With the success of Premier Boxing Champions over the course of the past few months, they’ve been looking to bring in some bigger names. Well, you don’t really get much bigger than the undefeated, pound-for-pound best in the world. These TV ratings, should this take place, should be something interesting.

While some people may think that Mayweather would lose money from this being on CBS, as Woods pointed out in his report, that won’t really be the case. The money that he would have lost will easily be made up by sponsors.

People have had an issue with paying nearly $100 to see Mayweather step into the ring every time. Now, as he winds his career down presumably in the next two fights, they can put those worries to rest.
