New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has the family’s talent. He can crack people up. Yes, the Manning’s are also known for throwing a football pretty well, but the two-time Super Bowl champion also has a knack for a great sense of understated humor.

DirecTV launched a great commercial campaign last year with actor Rob Lowe, where he would play both an ideal and crappy version of himself. Apparently, DirecTV has expanded on that premise, going with Manning to star in a new commercial with the same format for NFL Sunday Ticket. The result was predictably hysterical.

You have to give it to Manning. The 34-year-old New Orleans native is shy by all accounts, but he can really get going under the spotlight. Manning and his brother, Peyton, have both starred on Saturday Night Live, with Peyton putting forth one of the all-time host performances with his skit involving the United Way.

Eli Manning is getting some good laughs in now, but once training camp starts, the veteran has no choice but to be all business. The Giants have not made the playoffs since 2011, when they defeated Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI. If New York fails to reach the postseason for a fourth consecutive season, it could mean a new quarterback starting to learn the ropes behind him.

Last year, Manning threw for 4,410 yards and 30 touchdowns. This year, Manning will have a tremendous cast of characters around him with Odell Beckham Jr., Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle on the outside with Rashad Jennings and Shane Vereen in the backfield.
