Over the course of the past few days everyone has been waiting for word on whether or not the NFL would still make Tom Brady sit for four games this season or if they’d lighten the load, so to speak. Well, we finally got our word on Tuesday and it’s not the news that Patriots fans wanted to head.
The NFL, after hearing the appeal from Brady, has decided to uphold his original suspension. So, the Patriots will have to go the first four games of the season without the services of one Mr. Tom Brady.
It was believed by some that, at the very least, the NFL may just reduce the suspension to two games rather than four if they chose to be a little more lenient. Instead, they won’t be receiving any criticism from people about favorable treatment towards the polarizing quarterback, choosing to make him sit the first four games out.
Brady’s suspension has to do with his alleged role in the DeflateGate scandal from the most recent AFC Championship Game. In that game where the Patriots routed the Indianapolis Colts to earn a trip to the Super Bowl, it was found that the balls in the first half were deflated. Upon further investigation, the NFL determined that Brady knew all about it, which of course is a big no-no.
From here, you’d have to assume that the reins of the offense for the first four games of the season will be turned over to Jimmy Garoppolo, the signal caller the team drafted last season out of Eastern Illinois.
