Vince Carter got stuffed by the rim (Video)
Father Time handed Vince Carter a harsh defeat on Tuesday night.
Vince Carter has long been revered in the NBA for his abilities. When he first came into the league, it was his explosiveness and dunking ability that wowed fans consistently. In recent years as he’s aged, he’s transformed into a reliable role player and offensive weapon who’s occasionally able to turn back the clock when attacking the rim.
On Tuesday night, he wasn’t able to turn the clock back far enough.
As his Memphis Grizzlies were taking on the Houston Rockets in preseason action, Carter was leading a fast break and went to throw down a dunk like he’s done hundreds of times before. Dunking on a fast break was once like tying your shoes for Vince Carter. This time, however, the rim denied him his two points:
Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
It’s worth noting that the 38-year-old Carter hasn’t lost his athletic ability to the point that he can’t get up to the rim. He was pretty clearly bothered by Terrence Jones streaking towards the rim as a defender and it caused him to take off a bit awkwardly. Still, I never thought we’d see the day when Vinsanity was getting stuffed by the rim, no matter what the situation.
