Markieff Morris apologizes on Twitter for throwing his towel in disgust in the direction of Phoenix Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek during Wednesday’s game.

Phoenix Suns forward Markieff Morris received a two-game suspension by the Phoenix Suns organization for throwing a towel in the direction of his head coach Jeff Hornacek during Wednesday night’s loss to the Denver Nuggets. Morris wasn’t happy with being benched in the fourth quarter during a close game and let his emotions get the best of him. He took to his personal Twitter account to apologize for his act of frustration.

These were Morris’ first Tweets since late October. He claims to have not realized that his towel struck the Suns head coach and from the tone of his Tweets, doesn’t seem upset about being suspended by his club for two games. Morris has not been the same player he was last season when his identical twin brother Marcus Morris was on the Suns. Morris was not happy about Phoenix traded away his twin brother during the offseason and his play has suffered with the Suns. Morris used to start for Phoenix in 2014-15 plays about 12 minutes a game and ended up getting benched on Wednesday night for have a -13 plus/minus rating in the Suns game versus the Nuggets. Perhaps this suspension serves as a wake up call for Morris and the struggling 12-19 Suns.

Phoenix has not made the playoffs since Hornacek took over the team three years ago. In a down year for the West, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that Phoenix can rise up the standings with committed play in the second half of the 2015-16 NBA season.
