The Montreal Canadiens have traded Jarred Tinordi to the Arizona Coyotes for forward John Scott and defenseman Stefan Elliott.

The Montreal Canadiens have been looking to make a trade for quite some time now as they try to get themselves out of the slump that they have been in since the beginning of December. They have made a trade with the Arizona Coyotes, though not for the player fans expected.

This is an excellent trade for the Coyotes as they get a great defenseman prospect in Jarred Tinordi. He has seven points in 47 games with the Canadiens AHL affiliate this season. The Coyotes have long needed blue chip prospects on their blue-line and Tinnordi gives them one at an extremely cheap price. Tinnordi should be at worst a valuable depth defenseman for them for years to come. He has the potential to be a top four defenseman. Considering the price that they paid, it’s fine if he doesn’t pan out.

The Canadiens are getting 2016 All-Star forward John Scott. John Scott has one assist in 11 games this season and 11 career points in 285 games. Stefan Elliot has 24 points in 82 career games for the Coyotes. He has six points in 19 games this season. It’s hard to see why this trade was accepted by the Canadiens.
