The Canadiens reportedly could fire head coach Michel Therrien as soon as Tuesday

The Montreal Canadiens have been stuck in a downward spiral during the past two months. Part of the blame falls on the injury to Carey Price. However, most of the blame falls on head coach Michel Therrien. He rushed back Price from a relatively minor injury which likely led to him re-aggravating his old injury and making it much worse. Someone has to take the fall and it’s usually the head coach. The Canadiens could reportedly fire him very soon.

For those who don’t speak French, the tweet says that Tuesday’s match against the Boston Bruins could be Michel Therrien’s last. Therrien has been given quite a long leash since being hired by Montreal, but it appears that leash has significantly shortened and Therrien could be fired very soon.

The Canadiens have won just four games since beating the Columbus Blue Jackets on December 1st. They have lost 17 of their last 22 games. Of those 17 losses, 15 of them have come in regulation and two of them have been in overtime.

Montreal currently has a 23-19-4 record after starting the season with nine straight wins and 13 wins in their first 16 games.
