Colin Kaepernick apparently wants out of San Francisco, and he specifically has the Jets in mind as a new home.

When Chip Kelly was hired as the new head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, everyone started talking about what he might do to fix quarterback Colin Kaepernick. On paper, despite his struggles last season, Kaepernick seems like the perfect signal caller for the Kelly system and this new marriage seemed downright perfect.

Well, it might not all be sunshine and rainbows. Although Kelly might indeed be able to fix Kaepernick, the 49ers quarterback doesn’t really want to be in the Bay Area anymore.

According to a report from the New York Daily News, Kaepernick does completely want out of San Francisco following the way he played this past season. But, it doesn’t all end there. No, in addition to the former Super Bowl quarterback wanting to find a home other than San Francisco, he apparently has a destination in mind — the New York Jets.

Now this puts the Jets in quite the position. Last season, the first under head coach Todd Bowles, the team nearly saw themselves playing in the postseason behind the arm of Ryan Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick didn’t like the world on fire as a Pro Bowl-quarterback by any means, but he did do an outstanding job for the most part of just managing the offense.

So in reality, the Jets would have to ask themselves whether or not it would be worth the risk to bring in Kaepernick and give him the nod over Fitzpatrick. Sure, he had his good years in San Francisco under Jim Harbaugh, but last year was just a complete disaster all around.

The Jets have a lot of evaluating to do if they are actually interested in a move such as this, but it’s something interesting to keep an eye on nonetheless this off-season.
