According to a report from Spanish outlet AS, Jackson Martinez has left Atletico Madrid in order to join China’s Guangzhou Evergrande in a €42m transfer.

Despite Ateltico Madrid fighting for top spot in the Spanish top flight, it has been a difficult season for Jackson Martinez. The Colombian hasn’t exactly been firing on all cylinders since making a big-money move to the Spanish capital in the summer.

However, it looks as though Martinez’s time in Madrid with Atletico could be up already. Reports out of Spain on Tuesday have suggested that the striker has agreed to join Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande. According to AS, the player will join to club in a €42m transfer.

Even if Martinez has just two goals in 15 league appearances for Atletico, they are still set to make a profit off the player. They brought in Martinez to the Vicente Calderon in July for €35 million.

Before making the move to Spain, Martinez spent the previous three seasons in Portugal with Porto, where he scored at least 20 league goals in each year he was at the club.

Atletico currently sit second in the La Liga table, with 48 points from 22 matches. They will look to recover from their loss to Barcelona this past weekend, when they host Eibar on Saturday at 10 a.m. ET. They sit just three points behind the league leaders, and should be in the thick of the title race right until the end. They also remain alive in the UEFA Champions League, where they will take on PSV Eindhoven in the Round of 16.
