The Detroit Pistons apparently never offered Brandon Jennings for Thad Young.

With the NBA trade deadline nearing, names will be tossed around left and right when it comes to who will be traded where. Some rumor are just ridiculous — like the idea of Kobe Bryant going to the Rockets or something — but not every name tossed out is impossible to imagine being traded.

Brandon Jennings is one of those names, as he’s been kicked around the rumor mill for a while now. The Knicks have been linked to Jennings, but another New York team crept into your rumor mill DMs in a deal that Detroit claims was never discussed.

According to Stan Van Gundy, if the team is shopping Brandon Jennings to the Nets then it’s news to him.

"“I got my email from [GM] Jeff [Bower] with all the discussions that have gone on and there was no mention of Brooklyn and no mention of Brandon,” Van Gundy said. “But the way you guys make [things] up at this time of year, it’s always interesting to me to find out stuff that you guys know we’re talking about that we don’t know we’re talking about. I find it interesting and amusing. 99.9% of the stuff that’s out there will never happen, mostly because 98% of it is just made up.”"

It was rumored that the Pistons wanted to swap Jennings for Thaddeus Young, a deal that makes sense. Reggie Jackson seems to be the long term option at guard for the Pistons, and Jennings still has enough in the tank to be a star with someone else. Young is a decent veteran option for SVG, and Jennings would add some stability at the one for Brooklyn.

We probably won’t see this deal happen though, especially since Van Gundy seems not so thrilled with the rumor being out there.
