ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning wants to play again.

The Denver Broncos won the Super Bowl less than a month ago, despite having one of the worst quarterback situations in the National Football League. Peyton Manning was a huge part of the problem, throwing nine touchdowns and 17 interceptions in 10 games during the regular season.

Yet,m despite those ugly numbers and getting benched for Brock Osweiler, Manning reportedly wants to return for another season, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Schefter used to write for the Denver Post, so he might have some really inside information. Manning is due $21.5 million this upcoming season and if Denver cuts him (or Manning retires) the Broncos save a whopping $19 million against the salary cap.

Denver is currently over the cap threshold of $155 million after placing the exclusive franchise tag on outside linebacker Von Miller, which is worth $14.1 million. The Broncos have to get under the cap by March 9, which likely means the end of Manning’s ride with the team regardless.

Manning would likely be looking to start once more, perhaps with the Los Angeles Rams, Houston Texans, New York Jets or Cleveland Browns. After playing so poorly and looking very old, his options are going to be limited.
