Jose Bautista slammed his first home run of the season against the Boston Red Sox

Going into the

Toronto Blue Jays

game on Saturday against the

Boston Red Sox

, Jays outfielder Jose Bautista had yet to hit a home run in 2016 after hitting 40 home runs in 2015. Bautista must have wanted to get his first home run out of the way quickly because he came out swinging in the first inning and got rewarded with a two-run home run, his first of 2016.

Red Sox starting pitcher Rick Porcello would love to have that pitch back. He hung one against a very dangerous hitter in Jose Bautista and he paid dearly for his transgression. Bautista’s two-run home run gave the Toronto Blue Jays an early 2-0 lead as they look to bounce back from letting the Red Sox come back on Friday night.

Bautista will be a free agent after this season. While he would like to stay in Toronto, the team has so far refused to pay Joey Bats the price that he has been asking for. This could be an extremely important season for the Blue Jays as Edwin Encarnacion will be a free agent as well.
