After the sudden resignation by defensive line coach Bo Davis the Alabama Crimson Tide’s head coach Nick Saban has little to say

The Alabama Crimson Tide are in familiar territory as they prepare to defend a National Championship when the coming football season kicks off. They aren’t in familiar territory when it comes to the sudden vacancy in their coaching ranks.

Defensive line coach Bo Davis resigned from the team on April 29 and word emerged quickly that the coach decided to head out the door amid allegations of committing a recruiting violation. Per an AL.com report, Davis had contact with potential recruits during a period in which no contact from coaches was allowed.

Now as head coach Nick Saban finds himself preparing for that title defense, and also needing a new line coach, he has declined to elaborate much at all on the situation surrounding Davis.

"“I’m not going to comment on any personnel decisions or any investigations,” Saban said via USA Today. “We’re all about trying to do things right at Alabama and we’ll do anything we can to make it right.”"

The refusal to comment by Saban makes plenty of sense as the coach is distancing himself from any scandal with the NCAA’s “evaluation period” coming up. This period is a six-week span where coaches can visit prospects at their school.

Davis was an assistant in Alabama from 2007-2010, after which he spent time performing the same job for the Texas Longhorns. He returned to Alabama in 2014 and was a highly respected recruiter that helped Alabama build their dominate defense.
