Minnesota Twins ballboy makes a stellar grab (Video)
This Minnesota Twins ballboy was able to make a great diving snag to help protect some fans in the first row.
Baseball players usually defy gravity and soar in the air to make jaw-dropping grabs that make you either say ouch, or wow! Ballboys are no different. They too, at times, make some nice grabs that make people say, “sign him up.”
In a game between the Minnesota Twins and the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night, Orioles centre fielder Joey Rickard stepped up to the plate in the top of ninth to try and bring a run home to end the 3-3 deadlock. Rickard would foul off his 1-2 pitch past the first base line, going straight for some fans in the first row.
This Twins ballboy saw the ball coming and barely got out of his seat to make a diving grab to save the fans from certain doom.
Sadly, that didn’t rally the Twins and they lost 5-3 to bring their record to 8-24. This ballboy should try and join the Twins, and possibly bring his catching ability to a team in dire need of something.
It has been a rough year for the Twins. They sit 27th in the league in runs (109) , 24th in home runs (27), 25th in batting average (.236) and 23rd in on-base percentage (.305). Not to forget that players like Miguel Sano, Joe Mauer, and Brian Dozier haven’t been living up to expectations.
Sano a year ago had 18 home runs and a .385 OBP, he now has only three home runs so far to his name and a .328 OBP. Dozier does lead the team with 14 RBI’s but everything else is not looking favorable.
The pitching staff also hasn’t faired nicely. Ricky Nolasco leads the team with an ERA of 4.70. Not the best in the league. Phil Hughes hasn’t done better, as the 29-year-old 1-5 and has a 1.42 WHIP.
The Twins will need to make some changes soon if they want to turn around their season. If this ballboy can hit, he could be the answer.
