Buffalo Bills general manager Doug Whaley had some interesting comments about football not being a game meant for humans.

With head safety and player safety at the forefront of NFL discussion more than it ever has been, there has been a divide between those that believe in a link between football and player safety and those that believe the thing is being blown out of proportion and fear-based propaganda.

While most that are associated with the NFL fall into the category of the latter, there is one individual in the NFL that isn’t oblivious to how violent the sport is and even had some strong comments about just how violent the NFL is.

During an interview on WGR 550 Radio via ESPN, Buffalo Bills general manager Doug Whaley talked about the constant injuries to wide receiver Sammy Watkins and how he personally believes that football isn’t a game that is designed to be played by humans.

"“This is the game of football,” he told WGR 550 radio. “Injuries are part of it. It’s a violent game that I personally don’t think humans are supposed to play.”"

It’s certainly interesting and a bit refreshing to hear someone in the NFL have a different tune about player safety than what most others have been saying.

It certainly speaks to Whaley’s ability to take a stand and his personal beliefs, when he isn’t afraid to speak his mind and give his honest opinion on what has festered into a divisive talking point for many.

Football is indeed a violent game on the field and no one is arguing that. What they are arguing over is viewed in a different lens by Whaley.
