ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit shared a story of how he was “disrespected” by Baylor coaches and players during a visit there in 2015.

Thursday, the shoe finally dropped on the Baylor Bears football program and their head coach Art Briles. The school parted ways with Briles after eight seasons on the sidelines, mostly due to the release of a independent report commissioned by the school into the response of coaches and administrators toward cases of assault and sexual misconduct allegedly committed by football players.

While the response has been one of approval from those outside of the Waco, Texas area and the one of disapproval from those inside much of the Baylor community (including one from Briles’ daughter that is, um, interesting to say the least), college football insiders have been sharing thoughts and opinions on the situation and the culture at Baylor all day.

One such analyst, ESPN College GameDay and ABC Saturday Night Football’s Kirk Herbstreit, went on television and told a story about how he was treated during a visit to the school last year where he got not such a warm welcome:

I’m not quite sure that Herbie wasn’t just trying to stroke his ego by implying he should be treated like a king when he goes to schools, since that story has nothing to do with alleged sexual assaults by players and other domestic violence issues.

The independent findings came after an Outside the Lines story last week about allegations the Waco Police Department covered up the arrests of several players, while coaches (including Briles) didn’t punish players even after they were taken into custody.

The findings also led to the removal of school president Ken Starr…the same man who investigated former President Bill Clinton during the 1990’s for affairs in the White House that led to impeachment hearings.
