With Baylor needing a new head coach following the dismissal of Art Briles, is Mack Brown a possibility?

Thursday, the sport of college football suffered another black eye, as the Baylor Bears dismissed head coach Art Briles amid a litany of sexual assault allegations that were covered up by the program. As innovative as he was and how much he did to make the Baylor program relevant, what he ultimately had a hand in doing was downright inexcusable and he needed to go.

So with Briles’ dismissal out of the way, now questions have turned to who the next long-term head coach of the program will be. And of course, one of the first names that have surfaced is someone who has quite the name for himself in the state of Texas when it comes to college football.

Of course, this shouldn’t really come as a shock to anyone; it was only a matter of time before the name of Mack Brown, former Texas head coach, was brought up.

Brown has been out of coaching the past few seasons following the decline of the Texas program that he helped build back up, and while he’s enjoyed a television career in the studio, there have always been rumblings that he might want to get back into the coaching game. Really, trying to fix the image of the Baylor program might be the perfect opportunity.
