If the Minnesota Timberwolves draft Providence’s Kris Dunn at No. 5, that means Ricky Rubio is likely on the way out. Here are five trades involving Rubio.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are on the cusp of being a very interesting basketball team. They have the last two NBA Rookies of the Year in small forward Andrew Wiggins and center Karl-Anthony Towns. Zach LaVine is one of the most athletically gifted young players in the game and could be great as well as a position-less star in this league. Let’s not forget that the Timberwolves made an outstanding hire in bringing in defensive mastermind Tom Thibodeau to be their next head coach.

Give it a year or two and the Timberwolves will finally end their league-worst 12-year NBA Playoffs drought. The make the Timberwolves’ future even more blinding bright than it already is, Minnesota has the No. 5 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, which according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical of Yahoo! Sports says that the Timberwolves will either use on Providence Friars point guard Kris Dunn or Oklahoma Sooners’ National Player of the Year in shooting guard Buddy Hield.

While both Dunn and Hield would be fantastic picks for the Timberwolves’ front office to make, that would certainly mean the end of the Ricky Rubio era in the Twin Cities. Rubio has been a solid point guard for the Timberwolves when healthy since being the No. 5 overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.

Rubio is an outstanding passer and has become a better all-around NBA player as he has hit his mid-20s. If the Timberwolves do look to move on from Rubio this offseason, here are five trades that would make a ton of sense involving the current Timberwolves starting point guard.
