NBA Summer League 2016: Jerami Grant dunks on Ivica Zubac (video)
By Matt Couden
Sixers forward Jerami Grant threw down a vicious dunk over Lakers big man Ivica Zubac during Saturday’s NBA Summer League action.
Jerami Grant of the Philadelphia 76ers made a serious statement play with his dunk highlight in NBA Summer League action on Saturday night. The third year player received a sweet pass then moved in quickly from the side of the basket before rising up. From there, he was seen practically leaping over a hunched over Ivica Zubac. Keep in mind, Zubac is a 7-footer who is being compared to a former Lakers star.
While not quite the same, the play nearly evokes thoughts of a Vince Carter Team USA dunk over a seven-footer out of France. However, it’s a bit premature to put Grant in that same category of dunkers just yet. Still, one must admit the throwdown was nice.
Grant, a second-round pick out of Syracuse by the Sixers in 2014, showed a steady improvement in his stats his sophomore season as he averaged 9.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game in 2015-16. During this latest Summer League game, the 22-year-old showed Zubac and the rim he isn’t to be taken lightly. While Zubac was recently compared to Pau Gasol by teammate D’Angelo Russell, it seems he has a bit more work to do to prevent himself from being posterized this coming season.
