After the New York Jets re-signed Ryan Fitzpatrick, this left Geno Smith unhappy.

Following months of negotiations, the New York Jets re-signed quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick for the 2016 NFL season. This was one of the stories of the offseason and probably the longest one of them all. In the end, it leaves things where they were before, with Fitzpatrick as the team’s likely starting quarterback for the upcoming season.

Before the Harvard alumnus returned, it seemed Geno Smith was in line to become the new starting signal caller for the Jets. This is probably not the case anymore, though. He has had a tumultuous time with the Jets, including losing his 1st string job due to being punched in the face in 2015.

As expected, Smith isn’t happy with the recent proceedings. He expressed this in a recent interview with nj.com.

"“I’m not disappointed. I’m kind of pissed off. But it’s not a detrimental thing. It’s not something where I’m pissed off at anyone, because we all want to be out there. We all know that one quarterback gets to go out there on Day 1. That just adds fuel to the fire, but not in a negative way."

Geno being pissed off is understandable, as he probably expected to be the starting quarterback since the negotiations took months. He might have been mentally prepared to take the position and even put in the work throughout the offseason. It’s not necessarily a bad thing for him, though, as the preparation could come in handy if Fitzpatrick gets hurt. Given the always interesting events that circles the Jets, anything can happen.
