As we enter the beginning of the 2016 college football season, the big talk right now surrounds Big 12 expansion. Although they will be soon implementing a title game with just 10 teams, they obviously still want to expand, and we’re learning a little more about who exactly they would like in the mix.

According to Jason Williams of the Cincinnati Enquirer, BYU is still in the mix, as the conference as a whole would like them the most. However, Texas and Oklahoma each have their favorites in Cincinnati and Houston respectively.

These are three names that have come up a lot when the subject of Big 12 expansion is talked about. But what’s most telling about this report is the compromise.

While some are led to believe that the conference as a whole will determine this expansion, those of us with any sort of common sense when it comes to college football know that when it comes down to it, Texas and Oklahoma will get what Texas and Oklahoma want. They run the show in the Big 12, whether some like to believe it or not. So, if a compromise is what they could get out of reported situation, then it looks as if Cincinnati and Houston could have a new home very soon.

Time will tell what comes out of this, but when it comes to reports about Big 12 expansion, when it’s mentioned that Texas or Oklahoma want a specific institution — then there might be some weight to it.
