The Los Angeles Rams are welcoming the city to NFL fandom by charging $80 for parking for a preseason game.

There is a lot of hype around the city of Los Angeles these days. A large part of that is due to the Los Angeles Rams. The city of angels hadn’t hosted an NFL game since 1994. With the move of the team from St. Louis, fans were excited. It’s going to be mighty hard for them to keep that excitement going once they see the parking prices.

Now, to be fair, it doesn’t state parking anywhere. Maybe the team is handing out $80 to anyone who goes there. Perhaps they are charging $80 for air. But since Adam Schefter is convinced it’s for parking, it’s likely for parking.

Parking anywhere in Los Angeles is a huge pain in the butt. It’s almost impossible to find parking to begin with. Parking lots often take advantage of this by charging silly prices for parking. So what have we learned? Don’t drive in Los Angeles. You’re probably better off taking public transportation, biking, or walking. And you’ll likely get wherever you’re going faster.

Eighty dollars for parking for a preseason game is pretty outrageous. That said, a lot of NFL teams employ the practice of making parking prices ridiculous. It’s not a new practice for non-team owned parking either. But you’d think that a new football team would at least attempt to create some goodwill before charging outrageous prices for parking. At least they’re being honest.

The Rams will take on the Dallas Cowboys. Game time is at 8:00 PM EST (5:00 PM in California). First overall pick Jared Goff will likely get some playing time, as Case Keenum is the number one quarterback at this point according to Jeff Fisher. Los Angeles will also get their first look at running back Todd Gurley.
