Houston Rockets’ star guard James Harden took exception to a boisterous fan who called him a flopper in a recent Drew League game.

Dealing with fans is never an easy part of the process for NBA stars. Guys like LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Dwyane Wade have to put up with negative fans each and every day being the most popular –and sometimes unpopular– players in the league.

James Harden fits into that superstar category who has plenty of fan love and hatred coming his way and it might have something to do with his style of play. He’s not the most outspoken guy in the league, but he does sometimes strike the nerve of opposing fans who get fed up with his ‘cooking’ celebration as well as his barrage of scoring on a regular basis.

To even his own fans, the lack of defense he plays could be annoying.

During a recent Drew League contest in Los Angeles, a boisterous fan was sitting courtside and decided to speak up after he believed he witnessed a classic Harden flop.

The NBA star was not happy with what he was hearing from the stands and confronted him.

First off, it’s a Drew League battle, so it’s not like this game has any bearing on the future of this fan’s happiness, so calling him out for flopping on a 3-pointer is just silly. Second, Harden was probably listening to this guy chirp all game long since he was in the front row, so you can’t blame him for getting annoyed. And third, Harden still managed to put up 42 points in the game.

Sure, everyone in the league flops every now and then, but they’re also the best athletes in the world. Can’t blame them for trying to get a call and add a few points to the scoreboard.
