WWE SummerSlam 2016 has a new stage setup (Photo)
There’s a new stage setup debuting at WWE SummerSlam 2016 and it all looks absolutely incredible
When WWE first announced the brand extension between RAW and Smackdown, there were many hopes about what that would entail. However, one of the big things fans wanted that was a bit underrated was a change in the aesthetic. Not only did they want the camera angles and such to change, but also the stage setup as well. While that’s happened somewhat, they’ve gone all out to do that at WWE SummerSlam 2016.
For what is largely considered the company’s second-biggest show of the year at WWE SummerSlam, they’re really changing up the stage. As opposed to last year when it was essentially just the same set as RAW, only with the logo for the pay-per-view instead. For a show that’s supposed to be so important, that was disappointing then. With the new era of WWE being in full-effect, though, it would have been even more disappointing to see them do that on Sunday. Luckily, that’s far from the case.
Before the show even started, one fan who got to the arena early posted a picture of the stage setup from his seats. The new setup features a long screen that wraps around the top of the length of the stage. Additionally, the sides of the titantron are also different than normal. See for yourself:

You’ll notice that this set is at least somewhat similar—albeit smaller—to the one used at WrestleMania. While you don’t want WWE simply just using the same set for all PPVs, having them liken SummerSlam to Mania is a step in a positive direction.

What’s more is that this really opens up the door for some interesting things at WWE SummerSlam 2016. Think about Finn Balor’s Demon entrance with that stage. Or think about what they could do with someone like AJ Styles, Rusev, and so on. This is a great look for WWE that we should all be excited to see in action.
