Tim Tebow held a baseball workout for scouts this afternoon. We still don’t know if he’s any good, but Twitter is fun.

Tim Tebow: former NFL quarterback, ESPN studio host, Good Morning America contributor, accomplished author, and future minor league outfield sensation?  Could be.

Tim Tebow ran a 60-yard dash, shagged fly balls in the outfield, and took batting practice against two former MLB relief pitchers this afternoon. Reaction was mixed, but Skip Bayless live tweeted the tryout and reaffirmed his life-long love for Tebow.

Michael Lananna of Baseball America, who covers minor-league baseball and prospects offered a different take on Tebow’s running.

Tebow took some swings, too.

Major League Baseball was all over the tryout, tweeting about it a total of 12 times. That’s once more than they tweeted about once-in-a-generation talent Mike Trout … all season. And who says the league struggles to market its top players?

Somehow, Russell Wilson kept taking Twitter losses.

Despite the intangibles he possesses, Tebow lacks one of the key things MLB scouts look for. He’s not Cuban.

One of 30 MLB teams is likely to at least sign Tebow to a small contract and let him test the waters in the minor leagues. Whichever American small town draws Tebow is in for a windfall, as he will help drive attendance. Until that contract arrives, though, Tebow better keep working on his swing.
