The Seattle Seahawks could be joining cornerback Jeremy Lane in a large protest of the National Anthem.

Ever since San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick refused to stand for the National Anthem, others have joined him in his movement. Athletes across multiple sports have pledged their support and there could be even more athletes that kneel or take a seat on the bench during the National Anthem. One athlete that also joined Kaepernick was Seattle Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane.

Lane joined Kaepernick’s protest of the injustice in the country currently during the National Anthem. By joining on with the movement, it appears that Lane may be getting the support of his teammates. There could also be something big in the works from the Seahawks in the form of a protest.

Speaking to the Seattle Times, linebacker Bobby Wagner spoke of the team possibly having a big surprise. Wagner didn’t elaborate on what might be planned, but he did make it abundantly clear that it would be done as a team and not just one player. Therefore, it would be safe to assume that the Seahawks would have to be on the same page as a unit before making their stand.

Whether it happens this Sunday, during the team’s home opener against the Miami Dolphins remains to be seen. With Sunday marking the anniversary of the September 11th attacks, there’s going to be plenty of eyes on the actions of these players. The Seahawks and Wagner have something in mind, but the real story will be how many other players across the league follow suit.
