The Kansas City Chiefs survived a huge early deficit against the Chargers, coming back to win in overtime. Quarterback Alex Smith was pretty excited about it.

The Kansas City Chiefs are going to be a playoff team in 2016, that is a fact. On Sunday, the team came out sluggish, as the Chargers took a 21-3 lead into the locker room at the half. However, Kansas City showed a never-say-die attitude, pulling off an improbably overtime win.

Right before the half, Chargers star wideout Keenan Allen tore his ACL. The injury seemed to take the air out of the Bolts, who did nothing offensively from then on. On the other sideline, the Chiefs were just getting started, and took control of the game in the third quarter.

During the second half, the Chiefs outscored the Chargers 24-6, thanks to a steady dose of Alex Smith and Spencer Ware. Ware was filling in for the injured Jamaal Charles, and was the star of the. All Smith did was throw for 363 yards, and he used his legs to cap off the game.

After scoring on a two-yard run to win the game in overtime, Smith was caught on camera being very happy about the victory.

It was a huge win for the organization, who is looking to establish themselves as the class of the AFC West. Smith has quietly become one of the best quarterbacks in the AFC, and he is the right man leading the way. It is still very early in the season, but the Chiefs look like they have the roster, and the will to do some big things in 2016.

For Smith, escaping San Francisco was the best thing to happen to his career. The 49ers are a lost franchise, while the team he currently pilots in Kansas City, seem to just be reaching their potential.
