The Arizona Wildcats announced a sellout attendance to all but a handful of fans left in the stands on Saturday afternoon.

There isn’t a bigger lie in sports than attendance numbers. They’re incredibly inflated and account for tickets sold and given away. They don’t actually account for the people that are in the stands at the games. On Saturday, the Arizona Wildcats got beat so bad in the first half of their game against the USC Trojans, that everyone filed for the exits.

With hot temperatures in the 90’s plaguing Tucson on Saturday, it wasn’t worth catching a bunch of rays for. However, there was a bit of an embarrassing moment for the program and it wasn’t the score on the field. As they announced the attendance to a handful of people left, the public address announcer declared a sellout crowd.

I don’t think they understand the definition of a sellout. I’m sure they also didn’t really want to announce it at this point, as their defense continued to get roll over. The program has yet to win a conference game and continues to trend in the wrong direction.

They have been one of the most disappointing teams to date this season. Their attendance is hardly surprising, as no one wants to sit through excruciating temperatures to watch a bad team lose by a lot. However, that’s the new definition of a sellout in Tucson.
