The Kansas City Chiefs decided they were going to call a screen on offense for nose tackle Dontari Poe.

Andy Reid has decided to bust out the trick plays in Oakland. With a big chance to gain an advantage in the AFC West on Sunday, the Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs battled in sloppy conditions. With wild weather, came wild plays and nose tackle Dontari Poe got some action on offense.

Brought in as a big fullback down on the goal line, it was expected the near 350-pound lineman would provide extra blocking. Instead, they moved him out in motion and then threw a screen to him. It was ruled a lateral and therefore was scored as a rushing touchdown on the play.

Of all the plays to call, a screen to the nose tackle lined up at fullback was something the Raiders weren’t probably expecting. However, Poe is incredibly agile for his size and apparently has fantastic hands to show for it as well.

You never know what you really have in a player until you try him out in different areas. For the Chiefs that simply means lining up their largest guy down on the goal line and throwing him a screen meant for a much smaller man.
