Here is a look at the key injuries leading into Conference Championship weekend of the college football season. Whether these players play will significantly impact their team.

The College Football Playoff is still up for grabs, and this weekend is sure to play a huge part as to who gets in. No. 1 Alabama is a lock to be the top seed in the tournament, though the other three spots are still unknown. Will Penn State get in if they can win the Big Ten, or will Colorado upset Washington and put a wrench in their plans?

All the drama will unfold this weekend, so grab a seat and get ready for two days of non-stop action starting with the Pac-12 Championship on Friday night. With that being said, here is a list of a few players who may not be ready to go in their team’s biggest game of the season. Note: Some teams are playing their regular season finale this weekend.

Quarterbacks

Luke Del Rio, Florida

The Florida Gators will likely be without starting quarterback Luke Del Rio once again this weekend, as they go up against top-ranked Alabama. Del Rio is still battling a shoulder injury, and will likely be an emergency option if needed. The Gators have a tall order on tap, and are likely to be throttled in the SEC Championship on Saturday.

Phillip Walker, Temple

Temple will take on Navy this weekend, and they will likely have their quarterback ready to go. Phillip Walker has been battling an ankle injury, but he is currently listed as probable for the game. Temple may find it tough regardless of whether or not Walker plays, as Navy has been one of the better stories of the college football season.

Alex Hornibrook, Wisconsin

Wisconsin came out of nowhere to win the Big Ten West this season, thanks to some incredible play by their running back and defense. However, quarterback Alex Hornibrook has also played well in spurts, though he may not be ready to go against Penn State this weekend. Hornibrook suffered a concussion against Minnesota last week, and will be a game-time decision on Saturday.

Running Backs

Terence Williams, Baylor

Like his counterpart on Saturday, Rushel Shell, Baylor running back Terence Williams also may not be ready to play. Williams is currently trying to battle back from a knee injury, and he is questionable for this weekend’s tilt. It has been a roller coaster year for the Bears but they can salvage their season with a nice win on the road against West Virginia.

Rushel Shell, West Virginia

Rushel Shell has battled some injuries this season, and this weekend, he may be out once again against Baylor. The speedy running back is dealing with an ankle injury and is currently listed as questionable. West Virginia will be looking to finish their regular season on a high note at home.

Saquon Barkley, Penn State

Penn State was an improbable winner of the Big Ten East this season, navigating a division that included Michigan and Ohio State. On Saturday night, they will take on Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship, and hopefully running back Saquon Barkley will be ready to go. Barkley has said that he is fine, but coming off an ankle injury, he may be limited against a tough Badgers defense.

Wide Receivers

Ventrell Bryant, Temple

Temple will finish their regular season against Navy this weekend, and they should have their starting quarterback ready to go. Unfortunately for Phillip Walker, his best option may be on the shelf, as Ventrell Bryant is battling a shoulder injury. Bryant is one of the toughest players on the Owls roster, so it must be a bad injury if he misses the Navy game.

Bryce Bobo, Colorado

The Colorado Buffaloes went from last to first in the Pac-12 South this season, an improbable run that has landed them in the Pac-12 Championship Game. Quarterback Sefo Liufau has played extremely well down the stretch, but he may be without one of his better targets on Friday. Bryce Bobo is listed as questionable with a leg injury, and it is unlikely he will play.

Defensive Stars

Marlon Humphrey, Alabama

Marlon Humphreys is arguably the best cornerback in college football, helping lead Alabama to another undefeated regular season. However, he is battling an undisclosed injury, and is listed as questionable for the SEC title game. Humphrey and the Crimson Tide should easily dispose of Florida on Saturday, and will be the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff.

Jarrad Davis, Florida

The Florida Gators have a tough task ahead of them this weekend, but they do have one solid player returning to the lineup. Linebacker Jarrad Davis will be ready to go in this weekend’s SEC title game, as his ankle appears to be all healed up. Davis is expected to be a first round selection in next April’s draft.

Dan McMillian, Florida

Dan McMillian will not join Davis in the starting lineup this weekend, as he is definitely out for this Saturday’s game against Alabama. McMillian has come under fire a bit lately, as he recently stated he would probably have had a better career if he never went to Florida.  His shoulder injury is just too much for him to go this week against a tough Alabama offense.

Greg Stroman, Virginia Tech

Most people do not give Virginia Tech much of a chance against Clemson this weekend, as the Tigers have been one of the best teams in college football for the past two seasons. The Hokies did get some good news this week, as star defensive back Greg Stroman should be ready to go. He hurt his ankle a few weeks back against Duke, and has been limited ever since.

Will Johnson, Oklahoma

Oklahoma should roll in the Big 12 Championship this weekend, as they are far more talented than Oklahoma State. However, they will likely be without defensive back Will Johnson, who is doubtful with an undisclosed injury. He missed last week’s game against West Virginia, and does not appear healthy enough to get back out there.

Jordan Evans, Oklahoma

The Sooners also may be without linebacker Jordan Evans, though he is more likely to play than Johnson is. Evans is one of the better linebackers in the Big 12, so having him back against Oklahoma State would be huge. Even with a win, Oklahoma is not likely to be included in the College Football Playoff, but a Big 12 Championship would be a nice capper to another good year in Norman.
