This year’s Bedlam Series means a lot more to folks down in Stillwater since a bar is offering free drinks every time Oklahoma State scores a touchdown.

Even though the Big 12 doesn’t have a championship game yet, the Bedlam Series will serve as the conference’s de facto championship game this year. It did last year too when Oklahoma went into Stillwater and handily beat Oklahoma State 58-23 en route to a playoff berth.

That win marked Oklahoma’s 11th win in the past 13 years. And while a Sooners win would be par for the course, they have a chance to wrap up the first perfect season in Big 12 history. Oklahoma State would like nothing more than to avenge last year’s contest, as well as ruin that milestone, which is why they’re looking to gain an edge this time around.

According to Brett McMurphy, a bar in Stillwater is handing out free drinks after every Oklahoma State score vs rival Oklahoma.

That’s a great way to ratchet up the intensity of this one-sided rivalry, as well as remind people of the high stakes of this contest. Not to mention pretty much every Big 12 game this year has been high scoring, so it’s a great business move on their part.

You have to wonder how many Oklahoma fans will be going undercover in Stillwater to try to capitalize on this promotion. Try as they might, their identity would be exposed once they start cheering for an Oklahoma score. While bars should welcome any customer, there’s no way they want to serve free drinks to Sooners fans. They’d most likely get kicked out and banned from the premises if they tried that.

At the time of writing, everyone in MoJo’s Grill is probably still relatively sober. The Cowboys have only put up a field goal so far, and they will need their team to pick up the offense quickly. They definitely don’t want to see a repeat of last year’s game.
