If you like big guy touchdowns, you’ll love the tackle throwback by Western Kentucky in the Boca Raton Bowl.

Western Kentucky and Memphis matched up in what looked to be one of the more high-scoring bowl games of the year. The Hilltoppers and Tigers played an exciting first quarter in the Boca Raton Bowl which finished 14-10 in favor of Western Kentucky.

Despite there being just three touchdowns scored, there was one in particular that stood out as probably the best of the bowl season thus far.

The Hilltoppers were at the 9-yard-line, down 10-7, and junior quarterback Mike White dropped back for a pass. However, he tossed the ball to his left, backwards, to senior tackle Forrest Lamp who scampered in for his first touchdown.

Because the ball was thrown backwards, it didn’t count as a touchdown pass for White, which would have been his second, instead it was a nine-yard run for Lamp.

While this play might not look out of the ordinary in the stat sheet on Wednesday morning, people don’t realize that this kid is in there to block 300-pound defensive linemen and not catch passes, or run the ball. He made it look easy as the pass wasn’t perfect and he reached out and showed some speed to the end zone.

Western Kentucky’s offense is about as dynamic as any in the country and there’s a reason why the Hilltoppers are 10-3 with 10 games of at least 40 points on the season. Heck, this game can almost surely be expected to be a high-scoring affair as both teams are scoring at will.

As for Lamp, he can be happy that his final college game was highlighted by the most exciting play of his career and a touchdown that put Western Kentucky ahead 14-10 in the first quarter.

Big fella touchdowns are the best. Maybe he’ll be an NFL tight end? I kid.
