Svi Mykhailiuk was able to help Kansas stave off the upset bid from rival Kansas State on Tuesday night with this shot at the buzzer

When you’re the Kansas Jayhawks, the last thing that you want to happen in the regular season is to be upset by the rival Kansas State Wildcats. More importantly, you really don’t want to suffer the upset like that at home inside Phog Allen Fieldhouse.

Well this is something that nearly took place on Tuesday night, but thanks to the effort of Svi Mykhailiuk, Kansas can breath easily. And, well, Kansa State’s poor defensive effort helped in this as well, we can’t forget that.

The upset bid was alive and well on Tuesday night as these two were tied at 88 with the clock winding sown. Kansas had to go the length of the court to get the win, so the chances of overtimes were indeed pretty good.

There would be no overtime, though, as Mykhailiuk drove pretty much down the entire court en route to getting in the game-winning layup.

First off: Kansas State, what are you even doing here? How do you let one player drive the length of the court like that on you to send you home sad with the loss? At least make it look like you’re making the effort.

But, maybe more importantly, yeah that kinda looked like a little bit of a travel there. So you can maybe make the case that the Wildcats got hosed here in Phog Allen Fieldhouse on Tuesday night as they tried to pull off the upset of the No. 3 team in the country.
