The updates are rolling in on the condition of Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson, and his status for this weekend is not looking promising

The Green Bay Packers absolutely cruised past the New York Giants on Sunday, 38-13, to advance to the Divisional Round of the NFC Playoffs. They’ll be taking on the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday, but it’s looking more and more as if wide receiver Jordy Nelson will not be taking part in that one.

During the win over the Giants on Sunday, Nelson went up high for a ball, and in the process he took a pretty nasty shot to the ribs. That hit would immediately knock him out of the game, and he spent the night in the hospital from Sunday into Monday to be evaluated.

Well, there is an update on the condition of Aaron Rodgers’ favorite deep threat, and it doesn’t look promising at all. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is saying that Nelson suffered two fractured ribs from that hit on Sunday, and it’d probably take a miracle for him to be on the field against Dallas this coming weekend.

One fractured rib would have been bad enough, but two fractured ribs really does give quite the hit to the chances that he can play this Sunday in Arlington.

That said, while having Nelson on the field would be great against the No. 1 team in the NFC, there are still enough weapons around Rodgers with the likes of Randall Cobb and Devante Adams to still pull off what would be considered an upset.

But, for now, we’ll just have to wait on the official word as to whether or not they’ll have to worry about that this week.
