With national signing day coming on Wednesday, Lane Kiffin did nothing to bring excitement to the Florida Atlantic football program via a hype video.

Lane Kiffin seemed to largely mend his reputation during his time as offensive coordinator at Alabama, but an odd exit between the playoff semifinal and national title game diminished that some. Awkward exits from coaching jobs are nothing new for Kiffin, and he admitted the challenges of multi-tasking after being named head coach at Florida Atlantic.

National signing day is coming on Wednesday, with high school seniors formally committing to the school of their choice for next fall. Kiffin’s hiring at Florida Atlantic has brought some excitement to the football program, after three straight 3-9 seasons under Charlie Partridge.

Hype videos are meant to generate enthusiasm and inspire interest, especially during this important week for college sports as kids make a choice about where they intend to play and spend the next four years of their lives.

Kiffin is obviously the lead figure for Florida Atlanta football, and quite honestly the school’s entire athletic department, in his new job. So he’s the clear choice to do a hype video, but the result was … well, check it out for yourself.

Kiffin hardly inspires anything in the video, other than thoughts that he might have been sedated or working under Nick Saban has completely robbed him of his emotions. It’s also possible leaving a pretty good situation at Alabama, and apparently choosing not to work under friend Ed Orgeron at LSU with his mind on taking a head coaching job, has left Kiffin with regrets after landing at Florida  Atlantic.

It won’t take much for Kiffin to raise Florida Atlantic’s win total on the field next season. But based on this lame hype video, yet another weird exit from a job practically seems inevitable.
