Lucifer’s winter finale concludes with “A Good Day to Die.” Will Chloe survive being poisoned? Will Lucifer save the day? Here’s your recap!

Lucifer drives Chloe to the hospital. They realize that Dr. Carlisle was able to inject her when they were fighting. Chloe tells Lucifer that they have to work to find the antidote instead of going to the hospital, and he begrudgingly agrees.

Ella shows up at headquarters in her pajamas. They explain that they’re worried someone else might be poisoned, but Ella says there haven’t been any reports. Chloe doesn’t want to tell Ella what’s going on, so they keep her in the dark. It turns out that she found a small amount of poison at the crime scene but the antidote was destroyed. As she rattles off the symptoms, Lucifer and Chloe realize that they’re racing against the clock.

Amenadiel arrives at the station and Lucifer pulls him into an interrogation room, slams him against the wall and demands to know whether or not he was part of this setup. Amenadiel says he was a pawn like the rest of them, and that it was their father who put Chloe in Lucifer’s path. Lucifer wants to know if being poisoned if part of the plan as well. Amenadiel says they’ve been played like puppets, and all Amenadiel wanted to do was to make their father proud, and instead he was out making Lucifer a girlfriend. Amenadiel doesn’t know anything about Chloe being poisoned, which means that Amenadiel can’t help him. Chloe interrupts to say that maybe the guy who smuggled in the drugs has access to the antidote. She starts coughing, which worries Lucifer a great deal. They leave, but not before Lucifer shares a look with Amenadiel.

Chloe finds the Bird Man smuggler at a party where he tells his guests that they’ll never catch him. Chloe bumps into him and flirts so he takes her to his bedroom. However, her nose starts bleeding and he balks, but she knees him in the groin and pushes him into the room where Lucifer is waiting for him. Screams can be heard from outside the room, and when Lucifer emerges he has the name of the man who gathered the materials for the poisons, an artist named Dave Maddox. They move for the door but Chloe faints.

Dan and Lucifer watch over Chloe in the hospital. Dan is upset that Lucifer allowed Chloe to avoid the hospital to go off in search of the antidote. Chloe wakes up, and Dan and Lucifer promise to follow up on the new lead. Chloe asks for Trixie and Dan goes off to see if she’s there yet. Chloe asks if she looks too scary connected to all of the wires, and Lucifer tells her she looks, “Heaven sent.”

Dave Maddox’s art gallery is full of people and horrible art. Dan tells Lucifer to follow his lead, so Dan confronts Maddox, who says that he has no idea about Dr. Carlisle. Maddox jokes when Dan says he’s trying to help his ex-wife, which prompts Dan to punch him. They’re taken into a back room and Dan gets a few punches. Lucifer wants to know if they should punch him too. Dan admits he screwed up, so Lucifer takes charge and undoes his cuffs. Maddox returns with a bat and Lucifer works his magic on him. Maddox wants someone to buy his art because they like it. Lucifer agrees to the “deal” so that Maddox hands over his information while Lucifer buys some art. The file only has the antidote ingredients because the professor kept the formula in his head.

Charlotte joins Lucifer at the hospital. Lucifer can’t even go in to be with Chloe because he can’t bear telling her that she’s dying. Charlotte says that the man who did this is being tortured in Hell, which gives Lucifer the idea that all he needs to do is die so he can go to Hell and find the antidote.

Back at Lucifer’s house, he tells Charlotte, Maze, Amenadiel, and Dr. Linda about his plan to be killed and go to hell. Maze is concerned that he’ll be trapped in one of the doors. Dr Linda wonders why Lucifer thinks he’d make it back to Hell, but Lucifer says he’s been banned from Heaven. Charlotte says she’s out but Amenadiel says Chloe doesn’t deserve this. Charlotte leaves, and Linda asks what her role will be. Lucifer needs her to bring him back from the dead since she went to medical school. Maze and Amenadiel volunteer to kill Lucifer.

Lucifer finds Dan at the hospital and asks if he was able to gather the ingredients for the antidote. Dan says the ingredients are useless without the formula. Lucifer says he is going to get the formula, so Dan rushes off to find them.

Linda and Maze, dressed in scrubs, go to the room beneath Chloe’s room. Lucifer tells Amenadiel to make sure Chloe doesn’t leave her room since she’s the only thing that can make him killable. Amenadiel wishes Lucifer luck.

Ella says they have gathered all of the ingredients except for one. It’s highly illegal and she can’t get it from legal sources. It can be added to fuel to boost speed. She knows of one place to get it but isn’t sure the owner will give it up, though Dan doesn’t think that will be a problem.

As Lucifer gets connected to the monitors, Dr. Linda explains that they’ll stop his heart for one minute. Time works differently in Hell, so it will seem like he’s gone longer, but she doesn’t want to damage Lucifer’s body by leaving him under longer than three minutes. Maze grabs the paddles to kill him but she balks, so he grabs them and shocks himself.

Lucifer wakes up in Hell and goes off in search of Dr. Carlisle.

Amenadiel is in Chloe’s room when Trixie walks in. She wants to know why there are bad people in the world, but when she hears that Amenadiel is watching over her mom, she calls him a guardian angel. He hugs her.

Lucifer finds Dr. Carlisle reliving the car crash that changed his life in a Hell of his own making. Lucifer tells him that he can change his destiny if he does something to make things right. He says he poisoned the detective, whom he cares about a great deal, and saving her might help. He writes down the formula and Lucifer walks away, leaving Carlisle to the group of angry people coming after him.

Outside the room, Lucifer awaits his resurrection. He hears someone playing “Killing Me Softly” on his piano and finds Uriel there. Lucifer is so glad to see Uriel and he hugs him, saying he doesn’t deserve to be there. Uriel says he’s right, but Lucifer does deserve to be there. Lucifer becomes trapped in his own personal Hell where he keeps stabbing his brother over and over again.

Maze and Linda try to bring Lucifer back but the shocks aren’t working. He’s not coming back.

Dan and Ella arrive at a garage and get busted by the owner, who pulls a gun on them.

Lucifer kills Uriel over and over while he taunts him. Uriel says Lucifer never followed up on the message he gave him as he died. “The peace is here.” Uriel says that this was a clue to something about to happen.

Trixie wakes up because the monitors are going off on Chloe’s bed. Amenadiel promises to stay with Chloe to watch over her while the doctors do their work.

Maze says Lucifer is stuck and she can’t go down there because demons don’t have a soul and she would just cease to exist. Linda offers to go but Maze says no way. Charlotte walks in and says she’d die a thousand times to save her son. As she opens her shirt, Maze shocks her. Charlotte wakes up in Hell.

Amenadiel watches as the doctors try to stabilize Chloe and eventually the medicines work, but they want to move her to CT. He refuses to let her leave and the doctors call security.

As it turns out, the mechanic is Ella’s brother. She promises that she’s not there to bust his shady car business, and she pleads with him to give them the final ingredient.

Lucifer keeps killing Uriel over and over again. Lucifer says he has no choice. Charlotte walks in and sees what’s happening. She says she’s the rescue party. He shows her what he’s done and she says that he’s not real, he’s just a part of Lucifer’s Hell. She reminds him that Lucifer was just trying to save them and that none of this was his fault. It was her fault for manipulating Lucifer since she got back. She’s been trying to make him upset at his father to use him against his father, but all she’s done is made it all worse. When Lucifer is able to realize why he killed Uriel, it frees him from the spell. Charlotte falls into the spell and her guilt at losing Uriel comes to the surface.

Security tries to remove Amenadiel but she stays put. Linda keeps shocking Lucifer but nothing happens. Dan gets the final ingredient to save Chloe. Amenadiel blocks the door. Linda shocks Lucifer again and he wakes up. They revive Charlotte as Lucifer goes up to Chloe’s room.

Chloe wakes up and finds Lucifer sitting beside her. “Well, you didn’t die after all. That makes one of us,” he tells her. He says it took a team effort to save her. She wants to know if they should pick up where they left off. Lucifer hesitates and goes off to find Trixie. Chloe wants to talk later, but Lucifer isn’t so sure.

Charlotte catches Lucifer outside and asks how Chloe is doing. He knows none of their relationship was real, and now he has trust issues. He can’t trust his father or his mother. She set up to break his heart and it worked. He’s tired of being a pawn. He’s done.

Later on, Chloe leaves Lucifer another message but she doesn’t get a response. She’s on her way to his house, hoping he’s ok. When she arrives, she finds that his furniture is covered up and Lucifer is gone.

And now we have to wait until May for more Lucifer. That’s a very long time.
