Alex Rodriguez has proven to be a very good analyst for Fox Sports, and he will be on the network more in his first year of retirement.

Alex Rodriguez is done as a baseball player, though he’s serving as guest instructor for the New York Yankees in spring training as they pay the final year of his contract. Plans for him to host  a show helping athletes in financial distress on CNBC surfaced in January, but it was worth wondering if Rodriguez would expand his analyst duties with Fox at any point.

On Tuesday, the answer came.

Per a press release from Fox Sports, Rodriguez has agreed to a multi-year deal to expand his role in their MLB coverage. In addition to some duties as a studio analyst during pre-game coverage and on the nearly nightly showMLB Whiparound on FS1, Rodriguez will serve as a game analyst in the booth for select Saturday games.

John Entz, President of Production and Executive Producer for Fox Sports, added some words about Rodriguez.

"“Bringing Alex back was a priority of ours and we are fortunate to have him as a key contributor to our baseball coverage,” said Entz. “His potential is off the charts and he’s been an incredibly quick learner in the world of television. He even understands the complexities of sales units. We are especially grateful to coordinating producer Bardia Shah-Rais, pregame producer Jonathan Kaplan, producer Royce Dickerson and all the FOX Sports staff who not only welcomed Alex but continue to strive to deliver the best pre and post game baseball shows on television.”"

Rodriguez has proven to be a terrific analyst during the last two years of Fox’s postseason coverage. Since he’s been on the field so recently, and thus faced many of the pitchers competing in the postseason, Rodriguez has been able to add extra insight colleagues Pete Rose and Frank Thomas just can’t. Now that insight and analysis will get more exposure, which a good thing for all baseball fans.
