Adrian Peterson leaves his meeting with the Seattle Seahawks with no deal, but don’t count him out.

The Seattle Seahawks need a running back. Adrian Peterson, one of the best RBs of our generation, needs a new home.

It seemed like the perfect marriage.

The Seahawks would get a fast, but powerful back that would be the perfect replacement for the retired Marshawn Lynch. But, according to Josina Anderson of ESPN, that marriage wasn’t meant to be.

For now, anyway.

Peterson flew into Seattle on Sunday, and when it was reported that he was still there on Monday, it seemed like there would be a deal in place for Peterson to join the Seahawks. But he left Seattle on Monday without a deal, which leaves a lot of question marks as to if the Seahawks are ready to bring in a great back that is on the other side of his prime.

Granted, there are other RBs that the Seahawks will have a chance to choose from. Eddie Lacy isn’t far removed from a 1,000-yard season, and Jamaal Charles can still be a powerful back in the right system.

Both, according to Anderson, are expected to meet with the Seahawks within the next week, but if you look at the overall picture of just what RB would fit into Pete Carrol’s system, you have to believe that Peterson is the frontrunner.

He offers so much of what Lynch did for the Seahawks, as a back that has tremendous field vision and can also power through a defensive line for tough yardage. He would be joining a Seahawks team that is in the process of reconstructing its roster to get back into contention for a Super Bowl run, and he could very well be that missing piece.

We thought it was a done deal on Monday, but Peterson has come and gone, and he is still playing the waiting game — just like Seahawks fans.
