With some big names still on the market, here are the top five remaining NFL free agents.

After a constant stream of official signings on the first day of the league year, NFL free agency action has slowed down a bit. News of current and upcoming visits for those that are available drives the majority of the speculation right now, as teams wait for the market to develop at certain positions and try to fill needs.

But through the first weekend of free agency there are still some big names out there, with varying degrees of rumored interest league-wide. Asking price, durability concerns and purely the position someone plays are all factors in who lingers past the first wave of financial windfalls, but this year the second push of signings could be fairly robust.

As the first full week of the new league year gets rolling, here are the top five remaining NFL free agents.

5. DT Johnathan Hankins

This side of Brandon Williams’ big contract to return to the Baltimore Ravens, the defensive tackle market as been among the slowest thus far in free agency. That helps explain why Hankins, as soon-to-be 25-year old (March 30) with a full 16-game slate of starts in two of the last three seasons, remains available.

Hankins has ben a 4-3 defensive tackle over his first four NFL seasons with the New York Giants, but his youth and possibility to fit as a 3-4 nose tackle should yield a wide array of suitors.

Once someone else on this list is signed, Hankins could be deemed the top interior defensive lineman available by a lot of teams. But until that domino falls, here the Ohio State product sits.
