Brett Favre is not completely able to be an NFL quarterback anymore, but his arm strength has clearly not left him.

After Brett Favre’s epic consecutive start streak ended with the Minnesota Vikings in 2010, the writing was on the wall. Years of considering retirement and ultimately playing, and a short-lived announced retirement from the Green Bay Packers in 2008, were done without incident.

Favre has worked with the high school football team near his home in Mississippi since retiring, but he is seen far more now as a pitchman for Wrangler and Copper Fit. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016, in his first year of eligibility, with an epic speech befitting his personality.

On Wednesday, Falcons cornerback Robert Alford posted a tweet showing Favre throwing at an indoor facility in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. At 47 years old, one of the primary skills of Favre’s previous craft has not gone away.

The casual indoor setting is obviously worth noting, and the skill level of the receivers is unknown, but Favre’s arm strength has clearly not deteriorated much.

If this was five years ago, talk of a possible Favre comeback would be rampant after this video surfaced as an indication he can still throw capably. It may have even been a calculated move on his part back then, as a call to quarterback-needy NFL teams to show he wants to play again.

But the image of Favre lying motionless and concussed, on a frozen field at TCF Bank Stadium in December of 2010, remains an indelible one as a signal his career was over. He was better off staying retired when it was an option to come back, and from here on out we can just have fun watching Favre show off his fastball in other settings.
