So after all the back and forth news on Friday, is Marshawn Lunch going to sign with the Oakland Raiders?

After virtually nothing for a month, Thursday brought news that Marshawn Lynch was starting the process to be reinstated to the NFL. The Seattle Seahawks would hold his rights if he comes back, but Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported a likely trade to the Oakland Raiders contingent on Lynch re-working his contact.

It seems to be only a matter of time before Lynch becomes a Raider, assuming he is indeed coming back, of course. Rumors of Lynch’s interest in playing for the New England Patriots have proven to be toothless, and a flimsy leverage play from his end.

But Friday brought a new round of news regarding Lynch, including a tidbit from the man himself.

First, Michael Silver of NFL Network reported Lynch had signed with the Raiders, with apparent “terms to come.”

Then, essentially a full contradiction from Pro Football Talk.

And finally, Lynch himself made a profane effort on Twitter to take control of the situation and quell rumors (NSFW).

The semantics of Lynch officially returning, the Seahawks deciding if they’ll release him or try to work a trade and the Raiders finding way to make it work on their end is enough to delay things. Until all sides are happy with the transaction, it won’t be happening. And there’s still a chance all of it pushes Lynch to abandon any thought of a return.
