Kolt Kyler broke down into tears after his father, Andy, rewarded the 9-year-old with tickets to Wrigley Field to see the Chicago Cubs play St. Louis.

It may not be every boy’s dream, but spending a day with your dad at a baseball stadium is a bucket-list favorite. Going to see your favorite team play their rival, sitting side-by-side with your father, generates lifelong memories. Young Kolt Kyler will get just that experience.

Kolt is a lifelong Cubs fan. The family lives on a farm on Pierceton, Indiana, in the north-central parts of the state. His father decided to test the young Cubs fan one day, pushing his work ethic. Kolt had a long day, starting with playing a double header in the morning, followed by an afternoon for work on the farm. When the work day was complete, Andy presented Kolt with his reward. Kolt’s reaction is priceless.

Apparently, it is not the first time Kolt cried over receiving Chicago Cubs items. There was another episode at Christmas, according to his sister Hannah.

"For Christmas he got a Cubs t-shirt and cried, so I assumed being surprised with Cubs tickets we would get an even better reaction. And his thankfulness wasn’t a surprise. He is always grateful for gifts, trips for ice cream, anything."

The lesson: hard work completed with a positive attitude and strong work ethic can bring the best rewards. Kolt and his dad have tickets to the June 3 game at Wrigley Field as the Cubs take on their rival, the St. Louis Cardinals. I am willing to bet that more surprises may be on Kolt’s way during his trip.
