The San Francisco 49ers won only two games this past season and both were against the Los Angeles Rams. What does the 2017 schedule look like?

Remember when the San Francisco 49ers were making an appearance in the NFC title clash on a regular basis? Under head coach Jim Harbaugh, the club reached the conference title tilt three straight seasons (2011-13) and went all the way to Super Bowl XLVII in ’12.

But talk about a dramatic falloff? From that trio of NFC Championship Games to the organization hiring its fourth head coach in as many years. Since Harbaugh’s departure following the 2014 season, the Niners have hired Jim Tomsula and Chip Kelly (who combined for a 7-25 record) and now former Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan.

In 2016, the 49ers finished 2-14 and both wins were at the expense of the Los Angeles Rams. Obviously, they will get two more racks at that divisional rivals this year.

These are the home and road opponents in 2017:

Home: Los Angeles Rams, Seattle, Arizona, New York Giants, Dallas, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Carolina

Away: Los Angeles Rams, Seattle, Arizona, Washington, Philadelphia, Houston, Indianapolis, Chicago

Here is the week-by-week schedule (updated upon release):

Few teams have been as busy this offseason as the San Francisco 49ers. Under Shanahan and new general manager John Lynch, the franchise was very active this offseason as it looks to replenish its talent base. Among the additions are quarterbacks Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley, wide receiver Pierre Garcon, outside linebacker Malcolm Smith and center Jeremy Zuttah.

Can this team climb back to respectability this season? The Niners were outscored by a combined 171 points in 2016 and were non-competitive in far too many contests. Shanahan certainly has his work cut out for him. But the 2016 NFL Assistant Coach of the Year has some interesting pieces to work with.
