Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Weekly Pickups 6/16

Middle of June, the hot summer is rolling around.  Summer jobs are taking over your life and your fantasy team is slipping away.  It happens to almost all owners.  It’s very understandable, but this is when the real owners make their moves.  They grab the hot bats, snag the top prospects, and find those diamonds in the rough.  This is your chance to take over the division, snag an extra category, and begin looking towards your playoffs.  Here’s some recent hot stretches who just may be impact players down the stretch.

Trevor Plouffe, MIN IF

This man is hot to say the least. In this past week, he has hit 4 bombs and drove in 8.  He is quite the utility player for the Twins and he should be a mainstay in this lineup all year long.  This power stroke will not be this hot forever, but his average should be climbing daily.

Torii Hunter, LAA OF

There are other guys in the outfield for the Angels besides Mike Trout and Torri has been killing the ball too. Since returning from his personal leave of absence, Hunter has found his stroke. In the last 7 games, he’s hit 4 jacks with 10 RBI’s. We have seen this guy put up numbers all career long, so why not take a shot on him?

Ryan Raburn, DET 2B

This call might be a long shot, but if you’re in need of a 2nd basemen then look here.  Raburn is notorious for slow starts and smoking hot finishes.  Now that he is back up for the Tigers, he could begin to pick it up again.  He had 2 hits in his debut and if he puts up numbers like he did in the 2nd half of last year, you’re getting a steal.

Clay Buchholz, BOS SP

A guy full of potential, but just can’t figure it out.  Happens all the time.  Well Clay might be onto something now.  His last 3 outings have been spectacular including one shutout.  Boston needs his dominance in the rotation so I’d grab him now before he’s taken.

Ryan Cook, OAK RP

He has been lights out all year long and finally getting his shot at closer.  Cook has only given up 2 earned runs in 28 innings and his WHIP stands below 1.  It’s tough when Oakland is getting many wins, but either way, Cook is a very reliable relief pitcher.

Hello, Waiver Wire!

With these pickups comes the decision for cuts.  That’s always a tough call especially when you have a small roster.  But it’s to the point where your early round reaches just aren’t paying off anymore.  Take out the scissors, swallow your pride, and make the move.
