Pick 23: Atlanta Hawks
Selection: John Jenkins

Bryan Rosa – A Royal Pain

A slight reach this early as many expected Jenkins to go in the first few picks of Round 2, the Vandy gunner projects to be a very solid NBA shooter as he was one of the best shooters in the country the past few years. He’s more of a specialist then anything, but as long as he fills his role, he’ll be a solid addition.

Jack Winter-Saving the Skyhook

Atlanta needs shooting, and Jenkins might be the best in the draft. Largely a one-dimensional player at Vanderbilt, he reportedly showed improved athleticism and ballhandling ability in individual and team workouts. If Jenkins lives up to his billing as a markman and can contribute in other areas, he’ll be a nice surprise for the Hawks next year.

Grade: B+

Bryan Wendland-Roberto Gato

Well, this guy wasn’t going to be available when the Hawks picked in round two, but not many people had Jenkins going in round one. I really like Jenkins. He’s the best shooter in the draft. He can get to the rim and he knows how to get to the line and knock down free-throws. The Hawks made a pretty good pick.

Grade: B+

Quixem Ramirez- Air Alamo

Atlanta was a below-average 3-point shooting team last season. Jenkins is regarded as the best pure shooter in the draft as his 43.8% shooting from behind the arc suggests. So that should help. What else can Jenkins do? Not much else really.
